Day Sixty-Three
I went to bed early last night and luxuriated in the long, steam-filled hours. I do NOT want to cough like I did last night ever again. The downside was that I slept through my son and daughter each asking for rides home from work. My son found another way, and my daughter called me and woke me up. Even though my husband had to get up at five for a twelve-hour shift, he was still up, so he went to get her.
I hoped he would get a good night's sleep after that, but he couldn't. Other than getting up in the middle of the night to help him with some cough medicine and a boring TV show to help him drift off, and then getting up with him again at five to cook him some eggs and make him something to take with him for lunch (because he couldn't have had more than two hours of sleep at that point), I stayed in bed for a twelve-hour span. I woke in the morning and saw that I had another hour, but that hour actually felt like it was longer. Highly unusual for me to feel like the night is long.
No gym, though, yet. I don't dare tax my lungs. I did do two of the nine things I do for abs last night before bed. Tonight, I'll do three. I did do a few squats while my lunch was in the microwave. (Makes the time go by faster.) And I did take a walk at work. I had to slow it down because my lungs started to feel fuzzy, but, I did make it slowly around the building, listening to my iPod. Know what else I discovered I miss? Listening to songs on my iPod.
I read some tips today that were reportedly from a middle-aged female doctor on how to prevent weight gain during this decade. Some of these things, I already do. I think I will try to incorporate the rest and see if it helps. They were not earth-shattering things I've never heard of, but she also explained why they can help, and it made sense. Two of them were limit processed sugars and eating less, which I am already doing with this project. Another was to exercise, which I am also doing, but I think I need to add more weights in, in a more alternative way. I'll be thinking about that. Actually, I do also eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, but maybe not for fifty percent of my diet. So I can tweak that. And the last was intermittent fasting. I do go all night without eating, and go to the gym without eating in the morning. I also eat dinner early. But I do eat breakfast and do not usually go a sixteen-hour span with no eating. So I'll be thinking about how to do that.
I do want to lose this unhealthy weight. I did not decide to do one hundred days with no sugar just for fun.
