Day Sixty-Two
I went back to work today. I worked all day. In the afternoon, I had a coughing fit that felt like I was pulling muscles on my rib cage and in my back. Fun times. I had two calls from my ENT's physician's assistant. First, he told me that I have two strains of bacteria growing in my sinuses. The one, no problem. The other responds only to the three antibiotic families I can't take. So my choices were going to boil down to getting back on the one that's destroying my tendons or going into the hospital for an antibiotic by IV. He said he'd call me back by tomorrow.
When he called back, he said he had talked to an infectious disease specialist, who had said that the antibiotic I am on should work for both types of germs. Yippee!
My weight was very disappointing this morning. I know I haven't had a good workout in over a week, but I'm also eating very little. I only ate half of what I brought to work to eat today. I remember how I used to have two, three, four, sometimes more desserts in one day sometimes, and I only weighed a few pounds more than this. It's been ten weeks, people.
I miss the gym. I can feel my abs getting softer. Last night, I did a plank for a minute. Tonight, I added in a hundred and did a plank. I know I can't do much, or I'll cough my head off. While I waited for my lunch to heat in the microwave today, I did some squats. I thought, "Man, this feels good!" Just to move my body a little. To feel a muscle flex. I know if I did anything aerobic, it would be next week before I stopped coughing. Must take a break.
As I was finishing dinner tonight, I coughed so hard that I had nerve pain in my left palm, which spread up the inside of my arm and across my armpit into my torso and over to the other arm. I hope I didn't tear anything inside of me.
Mark is sick now, so I can't foist any of the work off on him. I mean, he's still being helpful, but I can't assign him to cook, or put the dishes away, or pick up my daughter from work at 10:30 tonight. He has to get up at 5:00 tomorrow to work.
I colored lots of squares in on my graph today. The face is going to start disappearing soon. It was good to see the coworkers who were there. The one I wanted to see most wasn't there. I got through most of my backlogged work. My boss was excellent to me.
Tomorrow, I can do it all again. Hopefully, with less coughing.
