Day Thirty-Four
My husband was in pain much of the night, probably due to the bananas and breadsticks he had eaten, but I still managed to get a decent night's sleep. He offered to go out onto the couch, but I felt that would make him even more uncomfortable. Since he was the one with the problem, he wouldn't hear of me going out to the couch.
So we got through the night, but I didn't wake up as early as I like to. Besides my husband's having been in pain, I had gotten to bed late. Not because I had wanted to, but because one child had to work until eleven, one child cannot hear the words, "Go to bed," and one child escaped before I could see him at age eighteen one last time.
So I was up and fine, though a bit short on time. And I forgot to take my iPod to the gym. I used to work out without it, and didn't realize what I was missing until my oldest son gave me one for my birthday. Now I don't like to exercise without it and can't believe I used to think I didn't need one. So I took my time with the abs, doing three rounds of sets. And then I only had twenty minutes for the elliptical, which is really not enough time. I worked as hard as I could, though, and got as much exercise as possible in that time.
I was careful to not pack too much to eat. Just my leftover pasta and my leftover salad, and an apple.
I did okay. I am not too full. I am wishing I did not have to do my nightly abs, but I am planning to do them, right after this. I did have a voice in my head tonight whispering, "Why don't you just go and get some of your Easter candy?" My husband said it was an evil voice, but it sounded a lot like mine. I feel like making a sugar-free dessert, but I lack two of the ingredients for the chocolate mousse, and I drove around so much this afternoon running errands that I just cannot bear to drive to a specialty store for one of them.
After my abs, I suppose I will just go to bed with my cocoa.
We couldn't celebrate my son's birthday today because he and my daughter had to work, and another son had a school event.
I am tempted, when I make his cake, to use Swerve and confectioners Swerve so that I can have some. But my experiences with the sugar-free dessert cookbook so far have taught me that sometimes sugar-free desserts work out, and sometimes they don't. So I think I will not take the risk of ruining his birthday cake, but will make one soon afterward with Swerve instead of sugar, and whole wheat flour for at least half of the flour, and see if it does ruin it. It's a chocolate cake so rich that I think it can handle heavier flour. I'll keep you posted.
