Day Twenty-One
I am now one-fifth of the way through this project.
I was awake for a while in the night with a child who has come down with pneumonia. I was honestly frightened for him--he didn't seem to be himself at all--and wondered if I should run him to the hospital, so I was unable to get up early and get as much exercise as I had wanted to. At the gym, I did some abs and some weight-lifting, and only forty minutes on the elliptical.
My weight showed I have, so far, lost seven pounds. Seven times five--if I keep up at the same rate--would get me within ten pounds of my goal. One day, I was down nine pounds. If I count that, and stay at that rate, I would more than finish my course. So, I am doing all right.
Lessons learned, and things to improve: I could eat less flour. I could get more exercise. I don't think I have been in the pool at all this week. I missed two days of going to the gym at all, and all of my workouts were shorter than they were supposed to be. I haven't been overeating, but I could refrain from taking "just a little bit more" after I finish my meals. I have missed doing my abs at night more than I have done them. So, there are improvements I could make that might speed things up.
I had a pretty bad day at work. I had plenty to eat, though, and didn't think about cheating. In fact, two people had left me small treats--a little cake and a candy bar--and I disgustedly put them in a drawer, out of sight. Maybe they won't be stale by the end of July. Maybe I'll give them away.
I wasn't hungry at the end of the day. We had plenty of leftovers, and I needed to take my son to urgent care. I further discovered that I did not have the green peppers I needed for the meal I had started cooking. Two of my children were not going to be home, I thought, and the sick one was feeling nauseated. I decided to stop cooking and heat the leftovers. I'll finish making Spanish rice after I go shopping tomorrow. Tomorrow will be a big day.
