Day Seventy-Eight

I had not been to the pool in over three weeks, mostly because I didn't want to get chilled and sicker.  I put on my new swimsuit, only worn once so far, grabbed a towel, and went.  The pool was empty when I got there, which was amazing for a Saturday morning. I had just enough time to do a ninety-minute workout and get out before they started setting up for swim lessons at nine.

By an hour, I was tired, but I made myself keep going. I was lucky and had been mostly alone.  At eleven minutes, a swimmer had come in, but she had stayed in the far lane, and got out right at my hour mark.  The Chinese woman and her husband had come at about the same time, but they were only in the pool for fifteen minutes.  During the last seventeen minutes, a woman I have seen before who does water weights in the middle lane came in.  That was it.

I had quietly invited Mark to go with me, but he had not heard me.  He was so tired last night that he had fallen asleep with his head curved over onto my pillow almost as soon as he had taken my foot in his hands to rub it, as it is always spasming.  Now, at least, I know how to put him to sleep on the nights he struggles.  Ten hours later, he was still too sound asleep to hear me.  When I got back from the gym, though, he was doing yard work.

I tried to nap, but that didn't work.  I did not have all that much that had to get done today.  I mean, I did the laundry, and I went to two stores, but the only other must do was practicing the organ and piano for church tomorrow.  I tried to take a second nap, but that didn't work, either.  One of my children started texting me about something that gave me some stress.

I would have had to fast until almost two because I had my cocoa late last night, but I decided not to, as I had to start my religious monthly fast right after dinner.  I had stopped eating at seven-thirty, so I had eggs and oatmeal with Mark at eleven-thirty, a chipotle taco in the afternoon, and the salmon salad with roasted peppers and sliced tomatoes for dinner.  I drank my milk up as I finished dinner, because I give up my cocoa for fasting.

I drank a lot of water all day.  It was kind of a lazy day, but I really didn't feel well.  I felt funny in the head all afternoon, which I think was because I was low on sleep.  While Mark slept like a log, I found it hard to drop off.

Maybe I should have tried rubbing his foot.
